Accessibility
We want everyone to be able to use this website, including people who navigate with a keyboard, use a screen reader, magnify the page, or need reduced motion.
The standard we aim for
This site is built towards theWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, which is backward-compatible with 2.1 — the benchmark used under the Americans with Disabilities Act.
What that means here
- Every part of the site can be reached and used with a keyboard alone, and the element you are on is clearly outlined.
- A "skip to content" link is the first thing you reach.
- Headings are in a real order, so the page can be navigated by structure.
- Images have text alternatives; decorative images are marked as such.
- The background videos play automatically. Every one has apause button, and pausing one pauses them all. They are decorative and silent, and never carry information you would otherwise miss. If your device is set to reduce motion, scroll effects and other animation on the page are switched off.
- Text and controls meet WCAG AA contrast levels on our dark palette, and the page still works at 200% zoom and on a narrow screen.
- Buttons and links are large enough to use comfortably on a phone.
What we do not use
We do not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Those tools do not fix underlying problems and can interfere with the screen reader or keyboard setup you already have configured. We build accessibility into the site itself instead.
Known limitations
We are not aware of any outstanding accessibility problems on this site. If you find one, it is a genuine gap and we want to hear about it.
Tell us about a problem
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please tell us and we will fix it. Call215-260-2489, or tell us in the shop — and if something here is blocking you right now, we will help you over the phone.
It helps if you can tell us which page, what you were trying to do, and what happened. We will fix confirmed problems as quickly as we reasonably can.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is not a one-time state. We review the site when we change it, and we treat reports from visitors as the most reliable signal we have.
